Gianandrea is a scientist at CMCC (Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change) where he is in charge of a Decision Support System for safe and efficient ship routing. The system, which employs operational oceanographic and meteorological model fields, is being developed in the frame of the Italian applied research project TESSA and the European project IONIO. Furthermore, he is responsible of the teaching activities within the educational project OTTIMA aiming to train professionals in the field of operational oceanography and safety. Gianandrea holds a PhD in Physics issued from the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin – Germany (2005) and a MSc degree in Physics from the Università degli Studi di Pisa – Italy (2000). He loves nature, sports, and reading.
