Giuseppe is an operational oceanography coordinator at ENEA (Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development). His participation in the IONIO project is focused on the ship of opportunity measurements and on the implementation of an information system based on web tools. He is involved in EU projects for the development and implementation of a Pan-European network for oceanographic data and information management. He is also responsible for the Ship Of Opportunity Program in the Mediterranean. Giuseppe is Chairman of the Italian Oceanographic Commission and, in such role, he represents Italy in the UNESCO-IOC initiatives and meetings. Also representing Italy in the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR). Chairman of the session Informatics in Oceanography and Ocean Science of European Geosciences Union (EGU – from 2009); Chairman of the international conferences’ series ‘International Marine Data and Information Systems’ IMDIS 2008, 2010, (next to be held in September 2013). Co-author/author of 45 peer reviewed papers.
